It's been busy few weeks since I last updated the blog.
Wednesday 13th August saw David Cameron in Barrow hosting a Cameron Direct event at the Lisdoonie. This was part of a tour of North West marginal seats which saw him in Carlisle, Kendal and Barrow on the Wednesday. David spoke for an hour and answered a wide variety of questions from members of public. The feedback has been very positive and everyone was impressed by his relaxed and confident manner as he answered questions. After the event we went for an impromptu drive around Barrow to see the sights before he left for the next leg of his tour.
On Friday 15th my family and I went on holiday to France in our camper van. We spent a week in the Dordogne where I have being going for over ten years. The reason I go, is to go cave diving in the amazing caves of the region. Nowadays, I combine the diving with a family holiday but I did manage four dives in my favourite caves of Emergence De Ressel (2 dives), St Savour and Cabouy. Cave diving is something I have been doing since 1996 and I find it a complete opposite to my everyday life where you are constantly thinking about many things. In caving when you are in the cave, you think just about the cave, if you let your mind wander that's when accidents happen and I have no intention of letting that happen. From the Dordogne we headed down to the Mediterranean coast and just crossed the border into Spain before it was time to turn around and start the journey home.
Monday 1st September and it's back to work and reality, getting ready for another Shadow Cabinet visitor on Friday 5th September. This time Chris Grayling (Shadow Work & Pensions) is visiting and I have an interesting vist lined up for him.
Thursday also sees the Newbarns by election so we have a busy week ahead of us.
